chiCrits, a local women’s artists collaborative is composed of the following members; Shannon Cannings, Kara Donatelli, Tricia Earl, Stacy Elko, and Johanna Feminear. The group formed in 2001 and has been an active forum for critiquing current works and trends within the art community. The artists of chiCrits are prolific and work in a variety of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, mixed media, video, and collage. This mixed media group show explores various subject matters ranging from the meticulous observations of Americana, consumerism, and the plastic veneer; colorful, prosperous conceptual domestic forms; exploration into transformative place; impact of social disorder related to everyday life; and approaches to identity, culture and difference through transient spaces
